About

Welcome to the website, and hello from Kleister's Sounds of Yesteryear! Throughout the website you will see the terms 'us' and 'we' but really, its a 'Me'!
..........
I'm Andrew (or Andy), I was born in 1990 and have been handling vintage and historic audio equipment since approximately the age of 10. I am lucky enough to have managed to squeeze a wealth of knowledge from family members and books from a young age. With exemplary thanks to my Grandfather and Father for practical training and knowledge from the start. Most often found with my head buried in an old, smelly 'Practical Wireless' magazine probably picked up from a local car boot sale!
..........
After leaving school with great grades, I quickly decided that official higher education just wasn't for me. I entered the advertising sales industry which was fast paced and enjoyable but I decided to take the plunge and go self employed in the Vintage and Antiques trade in 2011. The business at this stage was predominantly buying and selling for profit, antiques, curios and of course vintage audio, carrying out restoration work when required. After taking a year out in 2012 I re-opened the business and have never looked back. Another year passed and due to the demand of the Vintage Audio side of my work increasing rapidly, I ceased general trading and decided to specialise in the Vintage and Historic Audio sector. Kleister's Sounds of Yesteryear was born!
..........
I provide all manner of Servicing and Restorative services, Sales, Advice and Spares for most vintage and Historic audio equipment.
..........
The Retail unit and workshop is proudly based at Battlesbridge Antiques Centre in Essex, now having a portfolio of over 300 jobs carried out, not counting the equipment that has been restored for sale. I am very proud of what, as a small business I have achieved and look forward to the future. Doing the job you always dreamed of makes waking up of a Monday morning much, much easier.
